Hanjin Shipping is taking delivery of a 4,300TEU ship, Hanjin Monaco, the last of a series of eight 4,300TEU vessels ordered from Samsung Heavy Industries in 2005.
This state-of-the-art ship with a fuel-efficient and eco-friendly
engine is scheduled to be deployed in the company’s AWN (All Water
North Atlantic) service leaving Busan on May 23rd.
Attending the christening ceremony held today at Samsung Heavy
Industries in Geoje Island, Won Woo Lee, Executive Vice President and
Chief Executive of Hanjin Shipping’s Container Liner Business Unit,
commented, “Deploying this ship will allow us to provide our customers
with better services.” He also added, “Despite the current global
economic recession and the instable shipping market, we will carry on
our efforts to create optimal fleet as we have planned for our
long-term growth.”
Meanwhile, Hanjin Monaco is the last delivery of owned vessels for Hanjin Shipping until the end of 2010.
